How to Make Natural Hand Sanitizer

One of the top recommended protocols to prevent the spread of germs is to wash your hands with soap and water. When soap and water are not available, the CDC recommends the use of liquid, spray or gel hand sanitizers. But did you know that you can make your very own more natural hand sanitizer solution?   

Below is a list of great recipes which utilize natural ingredients that you can use for your hand sanitizing needs.

Holistic Sanitizing Spray

Ingredients:

Glass Spray Bottle

2 Tbsp Isopropyl alcohol

10 Tsp Witch Hazel

30 drops Lavender essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Clean spray bottle and dry thoroughly
  2. Pour alcohol, witch hazel and lavender essential oil into bottle.
  3. Shake until all ingredients are mixed.

To Use: Spray onto hands and rub until dry.

Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer

Ingredients:

5 Tsp 90 proof grain (95% abv) alcohol

2 Tbsp Aloe vera gel

3 Tsp Distilled water

Glass Container

Instructions:

  • Clean container and dry thoroughly.
  • Pour alcohol, water and aloe vera into bottle.
  • Shake until all ingredients are mixed.

To Use: Add to your hands and rub until dry.

Essential Oil Sanitizing Spray

Ingredients:

Glass Spray Bottle

3 Tbsp Isopropyl alcohol

30 drops Tea tree essential oil

10 drops Lemon essential oil optional

Instructions:

  • Clean spray bottle and dry thoroughly
  • Pour alcohol and essential oils into bottle.
  • Shake until all ingredients are mixed.

To Use: Add a dime sized amount to your hands and rub until dry.
